A big con is the missing ability of proxy-arp. So no static NAT available, but also in every Linux distribution. Secure Platform is a special hardened OS, reduced to minimum to fit the needs of Checkpoint Products. -what ist with Patches? will be published by Checkpoint. Included in hotfixes and feature packs -what is with additional software like Stonebeat? theoratically yes, but there's actually no option to add users, so if the program needs a special user account you can't add this user. The commands "adduser" etc. are there and seem to work, but I think because of the hardenening the users get no valid shell.... -what is with additional tools like snort? see above. Might work, might not....? -which hardware will be supported? thx for infos I'm quiet happy with the easy and fast installation and configuration. But I noticed on two test systems a problem when you reinstall a policy very often. Even by rebooting the machines. After some times the policy couldn't be loaded anymore. Need a bit more testing, but it was reproduceable.
