CheckPoint maintains it's state tables using their own sync channel. You define a GateWay cluster in CheckPoint that has both systems IP Addresses, and the virtual cluster IP. When one box fails, VRRP moces the virtual IP to the new active box, and CheckPoint sees the virtual IP move as well as the sync failure.
