appears to be some/strong opposition to using Checkpoint in the UAE given it's
country of origin, and if I was a pitching solution for sale there I would
include different options with the likes of Gauntlet etc
The
impression I gained was that not many companies in the UAE would consider
using Checkpoint - maybe they might even be upset if you offered it as a
solution?

no regulations concerning export to the United Arab Emirates, except for such
organizations explicitly banned by the U.S. Treasury department, or the
Commerce Department.
The 'evil 9' designation, includes:
1.Cuba
2.Iraq
3.Libya
4.Taliban controlled Afghanistan
5.North Korea
6.Iran
7.Syria
8.Serbia
9.Sudan

There are
currently only 9 countries in which firewall-1 cannot be sold. I
have had knowledge of many arab organizations purchasing firewall-1, with
no concern for the writers race. Lets face it, Israel and US go
pretty much hand-in-hand as far as Anti-Semitic arabs are concerned.
Do not recommend to Libya, syria, lebanon, iraq, afganistan, iran,
cuba.
