I am not quite sure what you are trying to do here. Many years ago, we moved away from 5394/5494 type boxes in favour of going straight TCP/IP end to end. Client Access/400 is quite capable of using IP to talk to the AS/400. (Assuming of course, the AS/400 has IP turned on.) If you want to talk SNA over a point to point, between the 5494 and the AS/400, why does the firewall need to be involved at all? The workstations will talk to this using IBM client access software pointed to the Mac address of the Ethernet interface on the IBM 5494. My question is how can I connect this unit to one of my available Ethernet interfaces on my Nokia IP440 Firewall without an IP address? Is this possible? If so any help would be greatly appreciated.
