FW-1 takes advantage of multi CPUs ONLY in part. First of all, FW-1 is not multi threaded in any level, from kernel to daemon. But FW-1 runs many processes so that these can be distributed over the multiple processors. For example, logging or multiple instances of security servers. In general, if you're going to use security server heavily, then multi CPU helps.
