If you already have the vpn version of the firewall software installed, you only need to apply a vpn license. If you do not have the vpn code installed, you will need to re-install the firewall vpn version of the code. First you will have to "upgrade" from your current version to the same major version of the code. Then before you start the firewall, you will have to apply the vpn version of the same patch you are currently running. Then apply the vpn license and all should be well. This upgrade, with versions 4.0 and higher usually goes very smoothly, however you should *always* make backups before installing any software, especially to your firewall. fw ver can confirm whether you have the vpn, vpn+srtong or just the export software installed. ******************************************************************* Michael Carey [email protected] Internet Security Systems www.iss.net 3000 Town Center Suite 1100 Southfield, MI 48075 Managed Firewall Services Engineer******************************************************************* -----Original Message----- From: Warrier, Satish [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, February 26, 2001 6:45 PM To: '[email protected]' Subject: [FW1] Move from Firewall-1 to VPN This is a simple question which i can't find a straight answer at cp's website so here it is we currently have Enterprise version of NT FW-1 installed, we're considering VPN for our users and was trying to find out if checkpoint has a VPN module that i can install on top of existing FW, or is it a complete re-install with their VPN-1 product line ???
