Title: Move from Firewall-1 to VPN Satish,
You should first double check to see
which version of the software was installed. Even if the customer didn't
purchase encryption, I always install the strong encryption version of
Firewall-1 and let the license dumb the features down. Maybe your
installer did the same.
Type
'fw ver' If it says something like Check Point
VPN-1.....[VPN+DES+STRONG], then you all you need is to purchase an encryption
license.
If
however, no mention of encryption is there, you will need to uninstall the
non-vpn version and reinstall with the vpn version.
This is a simple question which i can't find a straight answer at cp's website so here it is we currently have Enterprise version of NT FW-1 installed, we're considering VPN for our users and was trying to find out if checkpoint has a VPN module that i can install on top of existing FW, or is it a complete re-install with their VPN-1 product line ??? For those that have done this migration how painfull is it ? if any I would appreciate hearing from you before i start on this adventure. Satish Warrier
