In principle, you are correct. But: Sun has only one MAC address per
Machine since the MAC addresses are part of the host ID and not built-in
into the network adapters.
Thus it is possible to give each interface a new MAC address with a
simple ifconfig. This makes a MAC address "take-over" feasible on Suns.
Whether this whole setup of Sun makes any sense is not the issue here
:-) I think they have a point to do it their way but it's quite unusual.
