Hi,

Did some checks on our test Management, from what I can see it
works as follows ... the naming convention described by the other
repliers is correct. The other digits seems to be used as follows :

Let's assume on the 09th of July you switch the log file ... the active
log file pointed at by fw.log, has a name containing the date of the
previous log file creation ... 2003-07-02_235700_1.log which becomes
when the logswitch happens 2003-07-09_235700.log and the new active
one becomes 2003-07-09_235700_1.log until this one is switched where
it becomes ... 2003-07-11_170502.log and the active one becomes
 2003-07-11_170502_1.log

This is the way it seems to work.

Met vriendelijke groeten - Bien à vous - Kind regards

Subject: [FW-1] Log Files Naming Scheme

Hello All,

I am using Checkpoint Firewall NG, and I do not understand the file naming
scheme. It starts with year-mo-da__xx.log. I was wondering were
the extra numbers at the end, after the date, come from. Thank you.
