On the Windows XP machine in the dialup connection properties, under the networking tab - Internet protocols Properties Wins Tab - Netbios Settings check enable Netbios over TCP/IP. That fix the problem we were having connecting to NT 4. When I connect over dialup, I can authenticate fine with SR now, but I cannot connect to my Exchange server. However, I can ping various servers including Exchange. I have narrowed this problem down to a problem connecting to NT 4 servers. I can browse network shares on Win2K servers. I CANNOT browse network shares on NT 4 servers. I do notice the XP client uses the "msftds" (port 445) service exclusively to talk to the network whereas a Win2K client uses "rpc" (port 135) to communicate. Has anyone seen this behavior?...is there a workaround?...is Microsoft trying to force me to upgrade my servers past NT 4? Thanks! ...
