Re: [FW-1] websense versus surfcontrol

Surfcontrol is in the process of releasing a Standalone version of the Web Filter on Solaris 7 (end of October I believe) as well as Windows. It can be used as a proxy (although I'm still determining the performance) or as a gateway to a proxy. If you are familiar with the old SurfWatch Web Filter, it is more complete than that. By the way, SurfWatch was bought out by SurfControl and then shelved and is no longer being supported as of March, 2002. SurfControl originally developed a UFP server that was integrated with Checkpoint, however, the feature set was very limited and like Lars said (below), I would be concerned with performance/stability issues.

Surfcontrol is available for evaluation if you want to look at it http://www.surfcontrol.com
