   While it is true that Solaris 8 is supported note that the Release Notes of SP4 state the

following :

 

    Solaris 8/Sparc (in 32 bit installation mode only; standalone non-VPN deployments only)

 

    Nor is it supported in Distributed environments.

 

    Unless the SP4 changed that's the actual status.

Checkpoint does support Solaris 8, although you must run CP 4.1 SP4 to comply.

I dont believe checkpoint supports solaris 8 yet. While this configuration may work, checkpoint will drop your support call as soon as they hear the OS.

I can't say for sure on the clustering with an older version.
