You need to authorize a machine as a gui-client before using the the clients on that machine (security policy, log viewer, and system status) on the management station(not the client, the server) regardless of it being on the same machine as the firewall has to be set up to have that machine as a gui client. If the Management server is on Windows, run the configuration utility and under the tab "gui clients" enter in the ip address of the client machine you want to set up. Under Linux, I think you have to run

"cpconfig" and also add the ip address of the machine you want to be able to have the client.

I'm running FW-1 on a stand alone server, now, what I tried today was to
install the Management client on my workstation and to get the Client and
the FW-1 to talk. This I could not get working. I then tried to install the
management client on my Test server (WIN 2000 Advanced Server) I changed the
rules and the Client and Firewall talked happily. The network objects have
been created and the Rule base has been adapted for the client to connect to
the Firewall. I keep on getting a error message on my Workstation that reads
as follows, "Verify that this machine as an authorized GUI client" I setup
the Network object and the rules exactly the same as from the Test server
that does in fact connect. My workstation is a Windows 2000 Prof
Workstation.

Is this maybe a compatibility issue or am I missing something really simple
in order to resolve this.
