Thanks for the information. I was able to perform the fw confmerge, but it still didn't solve my problem. So what I'm trying to do now. On the secondary machine I installed the NIC's (two of them are different from the first server), installed FW 4.0 and 4.0 SP4 (which is currently running on the first server) I made a backup of objects.C. Then I copied from \conf Objects.C *.W rulebase.fws After loading the security policy, I wanted to modify the network objects, and workstations to reflect the new configuration on the NIC for the secondary server. After making the changes and saving. I loaded the security policy, and I get an error "data invalid". When I stop the FW and restart, the modified data is changed back to the original settings for the interface settings. Is there something I'm missing? I would like to get the secondary system configured as the first server and upgrade to 4.1 and changed from stand alone to Enterprise edition with the firewall module and management server on separate machines. -----Original Message----- From: Aylton Souza, CISSP [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, April 02, 2001 5:15 PM To: [email protected]; [email protected] Subject: Re: [FW1] FW: Merge Object.C Hello friend, 1) What happenned when you tried fw confmerge? It usually works but sometimes it complains about cross references or some names (specially those with reserved words, which v4 didn't care about) 2) Take a look on Phoneboy's FAQ, item: Where did my rulebases go? . Is may help you to import *.W into your rulebase file, Hope this helps Best wishes Aylton ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, April 02, 2001 9:46 AM Subject: [FW1] FW: Merge Object.C > > I am trying to upgrade FW-1 on a new server.
