RE: [FW1] AntiVirus solution for FW1?

I had eSafe but switched to Trend. eSafe has the best features in the fw1
CVP category. Their smtp text inspection, applet and ActiveX ing are
come standard. However, it crash often for us when we use smtp text
inspection. Besides, we never be able to get the auto pattern update to work
and their are too.....o late in posting their pattern file. In case of the
love bug and Melissa, they were days behind Northon and Trend to post their
new pattern. Their work around at the time was: disable all vbs attchement.

My 2 cents.

Symantecs NAV for firewalls uses CVP 1.0, as opposed to more "contemporary"
products that use the more robust, and reliable (that might be a stretch)
CVP 2.0. I have had many customers attempt to use Nortons with no success.
We also use and recommend Esafe. We found Trends interface to be kludgy, and
difficult to use. Esafe seems to be a bit easier to use and configure.
WARNING - I work for a VAR that sells Esafe, so I might seem a little
partial. However, I have tested both Trend, and Esafe. They both do a good
job. I prefer Esafe.
