Fantastic... One more incident same as mine....:)
Another suggestion is disabling STP on the switch might resolve the issue.. But not very sure.. I haven't tried out..

Just to let you know (if your interested :-) the problem was being caused
by the CISCO 2950 switch. We used a netgear switch for the cluster
interfaces and all seems well.
