Re: [FW-1] SMTP resources

Hi.
I had used an SMTP security server configured on NG FP1 and it
gave me a lot of " too much mail data: error even though i had
configured to allow it to send more than 9 Mb of mail data. What
exactly happens is that the smtp.conf file in the management
station and the firewall module, the mail size parameter resets to
1 Mb. Installing the policy or bouncing the firewall doesnt help.
The secureknowledge says that this problem was fixed in NG FP2,
and there are no hotfixes for this occurence in NG FP1. As i see
you face the problem in NG FP2. A very silly thing which could be
done is change the parameter manually in smtp.conf file to 10 MB.
But make sure you do this every time after you install the policy
or do a bounce.:) troublesome but it surely works.

You're probably better off ditching the SMTP resources altogether
and instead run a DMZ SMTP server with Postfix, Exim, etc. I've
had nothing but problems with the SMTP Security Server (with 4.1
up to AI) and no problems with Postfix. Other SMTP servers are
much more flexible as well.

Subject: [FW-1] SMTP resources

Hi,

I just created an SMTP resource for my entire mail domain, and
have been experiencing some problems. Some packets are being
rejected because of "Too much mail data". I double checked the
size limit of packets in the resource (Action2), and it was high
(10 Mb!). I just kept receiving this message even though the
packets sent were less than 3 Mb. Anyone knows why this is
happening?

By the way, I'm using FW-1 NG FP2.
Thanks.

Saludos / Cheers,

Juan Andrés Galavís
