I just began seeing my NG AI firewall dropping smb traffic between my two lans. The traffic was going fine until we upgraded to AI and now I am getting dropped packets logged but the wierd thing is that they have no info in the log. No source, destination, or protocol, just a message "log_sys_message: ^Dc?`^\" When I do a sniffer from the box that is originating the traffic, I see that it is smb \pipe\ messages that is from some windows asset tool. Under the smart defense, ai, microsoft file and print sharing, I have it set to only use connection that are associate with a resouce in the rule base, but I have not defined any connection in the rule base (I am assuming that because I have not defined a resource in the rule base that the connection should not pass to the security server ??? ) I am not sure if this is a bug with the security server that processes the smb packets, but I would like to know how to disable it completely. I have dug around the advanced propertys of smart defense and it has a section for all the other servers except the microsoft one. Any ideas, clues, or suggestions? Thanks

I am running checkpoint NG AI on a nokia IP 440 with ipso 3.7

Rob
