Re: [FW-1] small office NG --- fw-1/vpn-1

hi,

I'm sure the limitation I wrote below also apply to a managed small office.

or what do you think does work in this setup?

cheers

I don't agree fully here - this is true if you use the web management wich
is what comes free with SmallOffice.
Until now there has been a free "real" mgmt license provided with the SO
license, but they stopped that on Aug. 1st.

But you can still manage the SO from a "real" management, and then the
limitations below are not so drastic, but you will have to buy the "real"
mgmt seperatly (or use an existing one).

Funny enough, it is now cheaper to buy a 'VPN-1 Pro Gateway Bundle' (wich
includes a VPN-1 Module, and SmartCenter) than to buy VPN-1 SmallOffice
and then buy seperatly a Smartcenter for 1 Gateway to manage the
SmallOffice !?!?!

If you have "real" mgmt the limitations are more like:
* only up to 100 protected IPs
* no HA

there are some more 'minor' limitations, but I can't think of more now.

SO is fine if you have a SmartCenter (for unlimited Gateways), to use for
branch offices and other small places. But for a standalone environment,
you could probably as well buy the Safe@ appliance - specially after ver..
4.0 comes out.
