[FW-1] AW: [FW-1] VRRP broadcast pollution

Hello,

this should be the required behaviour.

At my house Nokia VRRP announcements even seemd to conflict with VRRP
announcements from other network devices (namely Alteon LoadBalancers). I
have given up on Nokia VRRP.

Betreff: [FW-1] VRRP broadcast pollution

Hi list

Sorry if this is a trivial question, but I noticed recently that the VRRP
broadcasts being sent out by our Nokia cluster are travelling the length
and breadth of our network. I know that every interface on which VRRP is
set up has to advertise itself, but since the VRRP-interfaces of both
Nokias are directly connected with a dedicated cable anyway, I don't see
why I should see the packets travel everywhere.

I thought of blocking packets to 224.0.0.18, but that wouldn't be very
wise, it would break my VRRP functionality, right?

Any ideas appreciated
Cheers
Ralf G.
