[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] [FW-1] AW: [FW-1] fwm confmerge?
Hi Lars, You can't do that with the objects_5_0.C files on NG, obviously this feature converted to NG. The only way I found is merging the 4.1 file with the generated objects.C file of the NG management and then proceed with the upgrade (4.1 - NG FP1 - NG FP3 or using the CP update script) as suggested by Check Point. Sometimes this works depending on the number and complexity of your objects... However, your old rulebases will partially be lost (either the 4.1 or the NG ones depending which you want to preserve) because fwm -g *.W doesn't work, too. We have had submitted an SR regarding this in December 2001 (!!!!) and perhaps (due to the RFE as result of this SR) with FP4 or FP5 Check Point may built in something which re-introduce the old functionality...at least it's my hope. While trying to merge a standalone firewall's settings into an existing management server we've encountered some problems. The management server is FP3 and the existing modules are FP3 too. The standalone firewall is 4.1, but is going to be upgraded to FP3 (on SecurePlatform) in this process. I tried to upgrade each of the config files. But "fw confmerge" on NG is not working as it used to. On 3.0-4.1 it was possible to use "fw confmerge" to merge two objects.C files (CP solution id=36.518). On NG this is not possible (objects_5_0.C files on NG). I can only get the objects from one of the files available to the management server. And if I run a "fwm checkobj" after trying to merge these files I get a Dr Watson message (The management server is w2kSP3). I also ran an upgrade on the old ruleset and tried to merge the upgraded files into the management, but to no help. Anyone else encountered this?
