Re: [FW-1] Stopping remote linking.....

Greetings!

Is there any way to stop users from remote linking to images on our site? We
are paying for bandwidth for other sites and I would like to be able to stop
this from happening. I saw on one site a graphic that came up and said
something to the affect that "remote linking was not allowed." How can I
implement this on my firewall? Or can I? TIA.

The web server itself probably would be better suited for this. The basic idea is to check the REFERRER header for all image requests.

Simply replacing direct links to the images with a primitive CGI-script
checking the referrer header should do the job. Making this process
transparent would require deeper reengineering in the web server('s config).
