[FW-1] AW: [FW-1] Solaris vs. Linux for performance of VPN communicati on

Hello Wen,

I peresonally think the Intel Celeron might be somewhat faster than the
UltraSPARC IIe (remeber, SUN considers it as "entry level"). However it is
not only abou CPUs. If your Linux-System has a 64/66 Systembus it has
definitively a better throughput than the SUN.

Betreff: [FW-1] Solaris vs. Linux for performance of VPN communication

Hello Gurus,
I have configured an IKE site to site VPN by NG FP3.
One gateway is Solaris8(UltraSPAC IIe 500MHz, RAM: 256MB),
another gateway is Linux ( Intel Celeron 668MHz, RAM: 128MB).
When I transfer a big file through the two gateway in 100BASE-TX Ethernet
channels, I found the Solaris machine becomes very very slow, while the
Linux
machine does not become so slow. Is Solaris's performance for IKE lower than
Linux?
or do I miss something in my configuration?
Thanks for any hint or information.

Best regards,

--Wen
