Re: [FW-1] FWPolicy Crashing after Upgrade
try to run the post_upgrade_verifier tool. its included in the upgrade
verifier utility:
http://www.checkpoint.com/techsupport/downloadsng/utilities.html#upgrade_verify)
this worked for me in a similar situation. this utility corrects some
wrong references
in the upgraded files if necessary. backup your upgraded files... the
utility may change
them (wrong). also read the rn's coming with the file.
cheers,

I've just manually upgraded a 4.0

rulebases.fws, policy files (*.W), etc. to NG FP2. The machine is a

another machine. After a bit of tinkering, I've got it all
working...
almost. I've looked in the list archives, but really didn't see any
answers
to this kind of problem.
The remaining problem is that I cannot load the policy into the
management
client. The management client crashes while the little animation of
the
server and client says that I'm "Loading objects..." I'm
running FWPolicy
on a Win98 notebook and the message from Windows is,
X The program has performed an illegal operation
and will be shut down.
If the problem persists, contact the
program
vendor.
FWPOLICY caused an invalid page fault in
module DATASTRUCT.DLL at 017f:560b51a2.
[blah blah]
.
.
.
The same thing happens if I run FWLog.
However, the daemons on the management server seem to be fine.
FWPolicy
and FWLog do die downloading the objects. SecureUpdate runs fine.
And
I also have successfully used GUIDBedit. I also can compile
policies
(build the .pf file) using 'fwm load' on the command line of the
management station. This leads me to believe there is not any kind
of
major corruption of the objects database. Anyone know of any
corruption
that these other tools handle fine, but the management clients
can't
handle?
BTW, yes, the management clients are also NG FP2. The FWPolicy and
FWLog
ran fine with the management server when it had the default empty
policy
distributed with NG FP2.
