How did you have your manual rule in 4.1? Did you use a network object, i.e. something to represent (10.1.0.0/16), or a group? -----Original Message----- From: Matthew Melbourne [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, September 03, 2002 2:00 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [FW-1] CheckPoint NG and Address Translation Rules We have recently upgraded to CheckPoint NG, from version 4.1. With 4.1, we had a manual address translation rule at the beginning of the Address Translation rulebase which ensured that NAT was disabled between 'Internal' and 'DMZ' networks, i.e. Original:source = internal Original:destination = DMZ Original:service = any Translated:source = =Original Translated:destination = =Original Translated:service = =Original (and the same for Original:source=DMZ; Original:destination=internal) During the upgrade to NG, these network objects and rules were implemented in exactly the same way within the NG environment. However, it seems that the network objects are not behaving in the same way as they did with 4.1 (the internal network hide address, as defined in the network object, is used for traffic flowing from internal>DMZ). It appears that the individual hosts must be entered manually into the address translation rulebase to ensure that address translation does not take place for traffic flowing between those hosts on the internal and DMZ networks. It seems that network objects are not valid in the same way as they were in 4.1. Has anyone else enountered this, or a similar situation?
