Without knowing the exact specifics, I would guess that its
the security server.
Some questions for you:
* what version of fw-1 are you using ?
* are you utilizing UFP caching and if so which type (1 request, 2
request, etc)..
* how many users do you have pumping
through your Firewall and/or what are your peak numbers for HTTP requests per
second ?
* is the Firewalls CPU high during load times ? How about the
Websense box ?
A simple way to check what it is that is causing the slowdown
is to either look at the CPU resources on the Firewall during peak times (if
its high, especially in.ahttpd) then its the HTTP sec. server. You also could
try putting a sample UFP wildcard resource. This will also tell you if its the
Firewall or Websense.
In general running multiple HTTP security servers and turning
on UFP caching will enhance performance greatly.

Yes Websense is rated the best also there is
SurfControl and Xstop .
I am just finished
setting up Websense and FW-1 NG
FP2, solaris 8, and
Websense running on Win2k sp3
(70gb hdd, 256 mb ram
and PIII 800 MHZ) and I have a
issue of slow browsing
when users go through websense.
If remove the
websense rule and allow them to browse
the pages load
super fast. (eg www.apple.com load in 5
-8 seconds
complete)
with websense the pages take a real long to
begin to
load (noticably delay like 5-8 seconds before
anything
comes up ) then page may load half way and
just stop
for no reason.
I want to know what I can do to increase browsing
proformance. is it an issue on the firewall or if it
is websense
