The *theory* is that all MACs are unique, but the fact of the matter is that duplicated *DO* occur, as the likelyhood of duplicate MACs from chronologically separate productions runs ending up on the same local segment are VERY small. Most NIC vendors will tell you they never do it, but try to get that in writing !
