Re: [FW-1] Checkpoint on Linux

It doesn't make the slightest bit of difference where you compile the
kernel (assuming of course the machines are binary compatible). The only
difference that results is a message at boot time that tells you the
hostname of the system that compiled the kernel. You must of course
configure the kernel appropriately for the hardware it is to run on, not
for the machine on which you are compiling it. You'll have to install
modules manually, or move /lib/modules/2.4.9* temporarily (don't bother if
you aren't running linux 2.4.9 on the compiling machine) and do a make
modules_install. Then copy the resulting /lib/modules/2.4.9 directory to
the SecurePlatform. For simplicity you could always just compile all
required options directly into the kernel.

Just curious guys, what options on the kernel have been enabled so that if I
build a new kernel
on another machine, it will match?

Will the generated bzImage from another machine work on the SecurePlatform?
