I have to look at this - is there an easy way to tell if a router is hide
natting or one to one static??

Thank you for the advice...

could you even get the site information to pop up?
do you see any firewall log entries (drops, auths)?
are you using the correct client for 9x?

is the cable modem a router or a bridge? if its a router is it hide natting
or one to one static nat?

Subject: [FW-1] Problems with Checkpoint client

Hi all

I have a problem that has me stumped. I have a user that has two computers
at home, one with Windows 98 and the other with Windows 2000. Both of these
are behind a Netgear router with both computers having a private address
(the router has a public address on the outside - cable modem if it makes a
difference). If I go into the Checkpoint SecuRemote client on the 2000 box,
use IKE, and check off "Force UDP Encapsulation", I can authenticate and
access my network. However, if I try this with the 98 machine, I can't even
get the SecuRemote authentication box to come up. I can surf the internet,
however. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the client on the 98
computer, with no improvement. We're using the SecuRemote 4.1, SP5 3DES
client if that helps.

Thank you in advance for any assistance that can be provided....

Thanks

Russell
