I had a similar problem and this is a fix given by WebSense tech support, provided the SIC works fine between the Websense and FW1, then try this: 1. stop the Websense UFP service on your Win2K server 2. edit c:\program files\websense enterprise\ufp.conf. The first line should read "ufp_server auth_port 18182"...simply remove the "auth" portion, so it'll look like this: ufp_server port 18182. 3. edit the third line in your ufp.conf to read "opsec_sic_name "the actual SIC signature" 4. restart the Websense UFP service 5. go to UFP Options tab of your Websense OPSEC, check the boxes "use backwards compatablitly mode and clear OPSEC 6. do a Get Dictionary now. 7. once it's working, then push out the new policy. I have been trying to run the "Get Dictionary" within the OPSEC websense object but continually get the "Unable to contact UFP server" error message. I confirmed that websense is listening on 18182. I can open a telnet session to that port on the websense server. I have deleted and recreated the object as well as the SIC a number of times to no avail. Any ideas?
