Re: [FW-1] IP440 sluggish performance after not being rebooted for weeks.

I seem to have a similar issue on an IP120, except since installing I run slow
and need some concrete stats for management. Currently I have MRTG looking at
the three nics but I am also interested in the CPU and RAM stats. Does anyone
have any info on the MIB's or general info for the IPSO and MRTG?

regards
Todd

When the system has been sluggish l've always checked the Voyager monitor to see
if any processes are taking up to much CPU or RAM, but nothing seems out of the
ordinary.

The RAM usage never really goes above 32meg (230meg free), and CPU utilization
rarely goes above 1.05 (How high can it go? l'm not sure).

The processes utilization also seems fine, with nothing standing out.

A while ago l read some threads regarding an MRTG tool for ipso, so l might try
installing it to monitor various processes and CPU and RAM levels.

As l am having trouble with to many hosts (we have a FIG50 license), which is
caused by 3.3 bug that lists internal hosts both forwards (aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd) and
backwards (ddd.ccc.bbb.aaa) l think l will upgrade to 4.1 SP6 and ipso 3.5a, as
soon as enough feedback comes in that it is a good stable release.

Thanks to all for the advice.

Alan.

I had the same problem with IP 440 with 4.1SP3 , since we upgraded to 4.1
SP5a things seems to be a lot better.

We have a Nokia IP440, FW-1 4.1 SP3, ipso 3.3.

I have noticed that at times our network gets slower and slower after a
period of weeks that the firewall has not been rebooted.

Once l reboot the firewall, the network performance improvement is very
noticeable.

Does anyone here experience the same thing?

Should the firewall be restarted on a regular basis? If so, every how often?
Or maybe just kill the firewall processes, and then restart them? Thoughts
anyone...

regards,

Alan
