[FW-1] MS UPNP Traffic

Guys,

I'm curious to know what folks know about UPNP (UDP port 1900) traffic, what
kind of system configurations cause it, blah blah blah. I know it gets
kicked off by the MSN Messenger service if you have the right version, and I
know if you have XP it's in there doing its thing as well.

What I'm trying to figure out is why this service would be advertising
itself to the firewall every 75 seconds, in both cases from a personal-use
laptop... or is the log simply reporting its interface's IP address as the
destination because it was the recipient of a broadcast packet?

Anyway, I know this is half on-topic and half off. But I figure some good
discussion on the question could benefit folks since ultimately this is one
more thing the security admin has to be aware of in configuring the FW, and
maybe some other things as well.

Thoughts?
