In versions prior to NG there use to be two binaries because of US
cryptografic regulations. These regulations have been eased with the
introduction of EAR which allowed most of the world to use
HIGH-cryptography. Accually there are three binaries afaik
1.Domestic which is only for use within the US & canada full 168 bits
2.3DES-int which can be exported to companies that have a valid license
from the US via support 168 bits only of which 112bits are active.
3. DES distribution which has a key length of 56bits 40 which are active
Note i am not sure of the active bits if Domestic & 3DES-int are the
same or not.
But the main point is that 3DES means that information is encrypted
3times. DES means that information has been encrypted one time.
