Re: [FW-1] Security Certs

Thanks for the insight and well wishes, Roman. Was thinking CISSP, but
since I haven't yet started, I could take a look and compare with the SCP
option as well as consider Cisco's security cert.

In the meantime, I'll continue to focus on learning as much as is possible
about information security, right Don? :)

Chris, I still recommend SCNP as the most close to what you have to do every
day unless you are a Policy Writer, Auditor, etc. The training includes
hands-on labs with Information Security products and utilities vs. slides
with lectures.
There are two levels. I would recommend the only Level I because Level II is
too specific. There are two weeks of training total unless you are MCSE or
CCNA and want to save time&money and apply for accelerated 1 week course.
As for CISSP, see the table here:

Best in your career!

Thanks a bunch, Don.

You ought to know though, that in my corner of the world, it's not just
about what you know, it's what your management, peers and clients think you
know.

CISSP = Ceritified Information Systems Security Professional
NSA = Nokia Security Administrator
NSA = National Security Agency
  IAM = Information Assurance Methodology (Part of CIAO)
    CIAO = Critical Infrastructure Assurance Office (Part of PDD-63 -> 1)
SCNP = Security Certified Network Professional

The CISSP can be very useful and will probably help you the most in an
olverall business sense. The Cisco security certification might be
useful as well.

There are a myriad of certs out there, some useful, some not. Rather than
worry about certifications, worry about knowing information security :)
