Hi Yim, I agree that it is stupid to change a number of things at the same time. The problem is that SP2 is only supported on RedHat 6.2 and I decided to go for RedHat 7.0 as SP5 supports that version. So to follow your recommendation I should hope for the best, that SP2 runs okay on RedHat 7.0. Otherwise I have to go for at least SP3... We rotate logs weekly to keep logs at a sane size. And I would like to look into older log-events than just from the point of the switch over. Back to my oroginal question; What method is the best/recommended when replacing hardware as we plan to do? Is it to install the FW software and then copy relevant information from the old server? Or how should we do it? _\\|//_ (-0-0-) /-------------------------------ooO-(_)-Ooo------------------------------\ | Magnus Sandberg Email: [email protected] | | Network Engineer, BlueLabs AB http://www.bluelabs.se/ | | Phone: +46-8-470 2155 FAX: +46-8-470 2199 | \------------------------------------------------------------------------/ || || ooO Ooo ----- On 2nd of May 2002 Yim Lee wrote; ----- Date: Thu, 2 May 2002 08:58:16 -0700 (17:58 CEST) From: Yim Lee <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [FW-1] Replacing management station To: [email protected] If I am doing it, I will move to the new box with SP2. Wait a week or two, then I will upgrade to SP5. The more you change, the more difficult it is to troubleshoot if you had a problem. Why do you want to move the log? Do you really need the old logs?
