Hi, We're running a management station on a Linux box. The hardware is slow (old), the disk is to small and we're running 4.1-SP2 What we would like to do is to install a new Linux box with better hardware and larger disks. We would like to reuse the same IP address and at the same time upgrade to 4.1-SP5. If we have everything prepared, we could just do a switch-over by moving the network cable to the management station. Is this possible? I understand that the best way would be to do a 'fwstop' at the old box, copy some files and the do a 'fwstart' at the new box. If this is possible, which is the best way to do it? Should I install the FW software on the new box and then transfer everything in $FWDIR/conf/ and $FWDIR/log from the old box to the nex box? Or should we do it in some other way? Is it possible to upgrade the management station from SP2 to SP5 at the same time or is that a bad thing to do? How will the inspection module (still on SP2) react when the management station is on a higher SP-level? _\\|//_ (-0-0-) /-------------------------------ooO-(_)-Ooo------------------------------\ | Magnus Sandberg Email: [email protected] | | Network Engineer, BlueLabs AB http://www.bluelabs.se/ | | Phone: +46-8-470 2155 FAX: +46-8-470 2199 | \------------------------------------------------------------------------/ || || ooO Ooo ================================================= To set vacation, Out Of Office, or away messages, send an email to [email protected] in the BODY of the email add: set fw-1-mailinglist nomail ================================================= To unsubscribe from this mailing list, please see the instructions at http://www.checkpoint.com/services/mailing.html ================================================= If you have any questions on how to change your subscription options, email [email protected] =================================================
