Security in depth is generally a good principal to
apply. There are always 2 sides to any argument and it
just boils down to the requirements you need to meet.

You need to decide your priority. Trading ease of
maintainence for increased security is not what I would
expect from a security point of view but is what I
would expect from a support person.

The FW's would have differing rulesets/permissioning at
least... the common blurb being to utilise different
platforms etc...
