Sorry me again, I want to ask if we change the IP address which the license tied to, then we got to change the odject(gateway) in the policy rule right? But we need to fwstop before we change the IP address on the firewall NIC card. After changing the IP and we fwstart it, by default it will load the last saved policy and install it, but the last saved policy will fail as the odject (gateway) ip had been changed. How to fwstart the CP without any policy loaded. And we can then change the object using GUI client and install it later. -----Original Message----- From: Sim, CT (Chee Tong) Sent: Tuesday, April 16, 2002 3:35 PM To: 'Geoffrey Cheng'; '[email protected]' Subject: RE: [FW-1] Do we have to get new license when FW IP change? Hi..Geoffrey and dear all, When you say changing IP by myself on web, are you referring to go to the usercenter--> License / Move IP and change the IP address there. After that it will generate the license and we have to go download license file section to download it? Is that the correct procedure? How long will the old license last, if we still need to revert back? We have a software subscription license for 1 year which enable us to upgrade our CP2000 to CP NG, May I know how to obtain the NG license? Can it be done on the web? I ever clicked usercenter--> download Licensefile on my profile, I saw the following... Click here to Download 4.1, NG and above May I know whether the license file (only one file) that I download is for 2000 or NG? Hi CheeTong, Regarding the external IP issues, usually you will have two chances of changing the IP addresses by yourself at the web. Your old license will still work but Check Point expects you will stop using the old firewall as stated in the agreement. If you need to generate the third times, you need to request the license change formally. This happens quite often when an customer changes her ISP and hence all those services are free normally. Hope this helps. Dear friends, As I learnt previously, the firewall license is based on the firewall external IP right? But what if we want to change the internet service provider and we have a new IP? After we change IP, when our firewall still work? If not, what should we do? Buy another license or just tell checkpoint and checkpoint will generate new license for us for free? Whether the every firewall license is unique for every internet IP? What if I have to install the firewall in intranet and having private IP eg 192.168.3.10? Will our license overlap with other?
