Re: [FW-1] upgrade from 4.1 to NG (very urgent)

Hi Rajesh

On FW V4.1 there is a command called "fwm -g *.W" which does rebuild the
rulebase.fws file which is containing all the rules for display in the
WinGUI. May be this command is still existing on NG.

Regards

Stefan

Hello everyone,

I've installed Checkpoint Firewall Next Generation on a sparc 5 (solaris
8).
I've moved rules and objects from 4.1 to NG using the below procedure:

Copy the files
$FWDIR/conf/objects.C to disk using the name objects41.C
      $FWDIR/conf/rulebases.fws to disk
      $FWDIR/conf/fwauth.NDB
   Stop Next Generation by cpstop
Rename the unmodified file $FWDIR/conf/objects.C to
   $FWDIR/conf/ngobjects.C
Copy the previously saved files objects41.C, rulebases.fws and
   fwauth.NDB to
   $FWDIR/conf/ on this new box
   Rename $FWDIR/conf/objects_5_0.C to $FWDIR/conf/50objects.C
   Rename $FWDIR/conf/rulebases_5_0.fws to $FWDIR/conf/50rulebases.fws
   Merge the objects by using
   $FWDIR/bin fw confmerge $FWDIR/conf/objects41.C
   $FWDIR/conf/ngobjects.C > $FWDIR/conf/objects.C
   Check the objects using
   $FWDIR/bin/fw checkobj
   $FWDIR/bin/fw cpmi_upgrade
   cpstart

I managed to convert 4.1 objects to NG (5.0). But when I try to open
the rulebase using windows GUI, it is not showing the old firewall
   policy.

Is it something to do with rulebases_5_0.fws file. How can I fix the
   problem?

Any help will be appreciated. It's very urgent.

   Thanks,
   Rajesh.
