Hi,

Here is a follow up.

My guess is that somewhere in the configuration there is still some references to the old kernel version. Did you reinstall the firewall software after that you have changed the kernel version to 2.4.9-13?
Do the md5sum match yours, so we know we are using the same modules?

Regards,

Werner

Hi,

Okay,

I did some some investigating :

1. modinfo -p fwmod.2.4.x.o showed that you feed the kernel version during loading of the module
2. grep fwmod on /etc/rc.d/init.d/ showed me which script its loading -> /etc/fw.boot/
3. looking at the various scripts, I can see that it greps out the kernelversion on load

I've done and md5sum on all of the fw modules. I am running on a Redhat 7.2 with kernel version 2.4.9-13 and I'm using the 2.4.x modules

The rpms I installed are :

Supported versions according to the Release notes are :

RedHat Linux 6.2 (kernels 2.2.14, 2.2.17), RedHat Linux 7.0 (kernels
2.2.16, 2.2.17, 2.2.19), RedHat Linux 7.2 (kernel 2.4.9-13)

Uh 2.4.9-13 is newer then 2.4.9-7, not the other way around. 2.4.9-31 is
the latest version.

2.4.9-7 is newer then 2.4.9-13.
I do have it up and running on a machine with 2.4.9-7 already, which means
this can work

Hi,

Perhaps you should try to upgrade your kernel version to 2.4.9-13. This is
the version you need when installing NG FP1 on RedHat 7.2 and I believe the
modules are specific for this version.

Werner

I am sorry.
I am trying to install NG FP1.

The error massage I get is :
/etc/fw/modules/fwmod.2.2.x.o: kernel-module version mismatch
/etc/fw/modules/fwmod.2.2.x.o was compiled for kernel version 2.2.12
while this kernel is version 2.4.9-7.

Hi,

Which version of FW-1 are you trying to run? What error messages are you
getting?

Hi,

I have 2 machine, both are 7.1 redhat with 2.4.9-7 kernel, I have ran on
both up2date util.
On one the fw driver is installed and on the other is says that is not the
right kernel version.
If I got it to work on one machine which is exactly as the other ( the only
difference is the architecture, one is i586 and the other is i686)..........

Best regards,

Idan Dolev
