Re: [FW-1] Nokia IP330 problem

md5 = good :)

I _suspect_ that doing a dd as you described below would work as that is all
the /etc/upgrade_bootmgr script does (with LOADS of error/consistency
checking though). Keep in mind though, if you crack the case on your 330
you void the warranty. Nokia suggest that you RMA the box (if under a
support contract) when the boot manager gets corrupted. Best of luck
whatever path you choose.

Subject: [FW-1] Nokia IP330 problem

Hi

I'm afraid I've been a bit of an idiot. When upgrading the boot manager on
the Nokia IP330 I used a corrupt nkipflash.bin. Believe me that's the last
time I don't MD5 the file. Anyway, my firewall will now not boot
(unsurprisingly) and I'm not sure of the best way forward. I have an idea
to remove the hard drive, somehow mount it to a clean FreeBSD installation
and do a manual dd if=nkipflash.bin of=/dev/rwd0 seek=63. Does anyone know
if this will work, or if there are any other ways of mending a remaking a
corrupt boot manager?

Yours rather humbly

Darren Lewis
