Re: [FW-1] Logging issue?

hi,

can't help with the solaris problem, but when i had probelms logging from my
nokias to the managment station, it turned out to be that the automatic NAT
rules had been applied to all firewalls, instead of just on the firewalls
that were protecting the server.

regards

rich

Subject: [FW-1] Logging issue?

Greetings,

A company that we are connected to via VPN had trouble today (FW4.1 SP5 on
two Solaris 2.8 running stonebeat cluster). They claimed that the mgmt
station ran out of disk space for logging, and that the result was the
firewall cluster dropping packets intermittently. Does this ring true? I
have Nokia firewalls that are actually UNABLE to log (due to me not figuring
out what rules/translations are needed in our strange setup) and they seem
to pass packets just fine. We are also very concerned that a site that has
gone through such pains to configure a fault tolerant environment is
hampered by a single point of failure in a windows logging machine...
please tell me this isn't so.

Thanks,

It doesn't care what the external IP is. The only thing relavant to
CheckPoint is the Node Name IP which is used for the licensing and VPN's.
