Re: [FW-1] FW Log info -- question?

Hi:

ICMP is a protocol, however instead of using ports (as per TCP/UDP traffic)
it has different types, in which each type corresponds to a different
feature of ICMP.

A list of the different ICMP types can be found here:

http://www.iana.org/assignments/icmp-parameters

Whether you should be concerned all depends on the number and type of ICMP
requests your firewall sees. Typically ping and traceroute are useful PD
tools, but as a whole, the ICMP suite is rather pernicious.

Regards.

Subject: [FW-1] FW Log info -- question?

When looking at the FW logs --- when receiving a icmp -- what
does"icmp-type
# icmp-code # " mean? -- should I be concerned?

Thank you,
Alain Velis
