If your Nokia is also the management server then yes, you should find it
in your conf directory. Since it appears that the management station is
on an NT server then no, you should find files in the database directory
that correspond to your objects.C file and the compiled rules (file
called rules.C in the database dir) but no rulebases.fws file in your
conf directory. These files will be human readable but will be
overwritten upon a policy push or policy pull so modifying them won't do
you much good. If you are finding any .W files or objects.C file or
rulebases.fws in your conf directory on your Nokia I'm going to assume
that you once used the Nokia as the management server as well and these
are leftovers. Check the last time those files were touched to verify
that they aren't being modified (if your management server is supposed
to be your NT machine).

Subject: [FW-1] rulebases.fws

Hello all

I am running FW-1 4.1 SP1 on Nokia IPSO have read
where, when a firewall module (nokia box) loses touch
with a control module, it should be able to go into
the conf/rulebases.fws and run the last known firewall
policy.

I have been looking for my rulebases.fws on my nokia
box and cannot find it. I do find it on my NT control
module though.

My question is, should the rulebases.fws file be
present on my nokia along with the ojects.C and *.W
files?

If so, any ideas why I don't have this?

Thanks for any help you may lend -

Bob Runte
