Configure GRE tunnel on your internal router and only allow specific
tunnel IP to talk thru the firewall.

Well, many organizations use IBGP instead of ospf or rip or is-is.

Why would you want to?  BGP is an exterior routing protocol.
You typically would use that on your gateway router on your WAN
link outside your firewall.
