Re: [FW-1] WebSense 4.3 and FW-1 NG with FP-1 (Windows 2000)

Title: RE: [FW-1] WebSense 4.3 and FW-1 NG with FP-1 (Windows 2000)

Micah;

Have you tried this ?

I posted this to the list a while back...

Check Point has acknowledge a performance issue with FireWall-1 NG Feature Pack 1 when using a resource on the rule base . This issue does not appear in FW-1 NG Hotfix 1 or 2, and is circumvented by disabling logging of all HTTP rules on the firewall (the resource AND allow rules).

Well I have just finished trying all the options so far, no go.  Here are
the details of my environment:

Checkpoint Firewall-1 NG with Feature Pack 1
- Windows 2000 Server SP2
- Dual P-II 450MHz
- 512MB RAM
- 5GB Hard disk

WebSense Enterprise 4.3
- Windows 2000 Server SP2
- Single P-II 450MHz
- 256MB RAM
- 10GB Hard disk

Also, the ahttpd.elg file gets very large over time, so I delete it when it
gets to 1GB in size.  What does it do?  Does it log all HTTP security server
traffic when logging is on?  I usually have filtering working for only one
day, then the firewall stops sending requests to WebSense and users get
nothing.  I have to reboot the firewall to get filtering to work again;
reinstalling the policy does nothing until a reboot.  I have moved WebSense
to 5 different servers and still encounter the problem.  Everything points
to the firewall, but I'm not sure what is breaking on it.

Micah
