Re: [FW-1] Basic questions regarding Fw-1

Since your management server is running on Linux I presume you have sshd
running. Consider then port-forwarding the GUI client on your Windows box
through ssh. You'll never need to add authorized GUI clients again.

Hi,
I don't know your FW-1 version and the SO it is running, but are necesary
two steps to configure your remote GUI client.

In UNIX:
#cpconfig (or #fwconfig in 4.0)

Configuration Options:
----------------------
(1) Licenses
(2) Administrators
(3) GUI clients

The (3) option is the IP address of your GUI machine, but is necesary to
configure the (2) option with a
Read/Write (W) or Read Only (R) user.

Otherwise, your problem ( Not reponding) could be a network error or maybe
you are asking the wrong machine. If you has configured HA, be sure you are
asking the managemnet FireWall machine.

Best Regards.
    Dani

Hi,

I have installed the GUI client on a Windows machine. I have also added
that PC's IP address on the GUI client list on the server. The fingerprint
has been generated on the Server. When I try to login to the server from the
GUI client the client tries to connect and then it hangs ( Not reponding).
What could be the problem ?

Regards
Divakaran

                Hi Divakaran.

You need a Xmotif license to run the policy editor on the fw
server. To
manage the policies you must install the GUI client in a PC
, the software
                is contained in CD installation.
                Regards
                Manel.

Asunto: [FW-1] Basic questions regarding Fw-1

                Hi,
I am new to FW-1. I have just installed the FW-1 on RH
Linux6.2. The Fw-1
module and the management server are the same Machine.
                My questions are as follows
                1. How do I open the GUI based Managment utility ?
2.How do I open the policy editor ( GUI based). As per the
documentation
that came with Checkpoint firewall, I need to run this
binary file called
fwpolicy . But i dont find this utility in the directory .
Do I have to
                install it separately.

                Thanks in advance
