I think that using MRTG you may be able to ascertain a rating on your throughput on the firewall.  MRTG is a very useful tool used to monitoring network equipment.  Check out http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~oetiker/webtools/mrtg/mrtg.html for all the info on it.

Is there a way to measure the performance of a FW-1. I mean, how can I see if an Ultra5/270Mhz is holding out on a 34Mbps line. Not just some marketing info, but is there a way to measure it in a live situation?
