This email has sparked many a holy war- I would let a few vendors know that you are looking for an IDS solution, and start testing products yourself. What many would call the best solution for them might not work for you due to any number of factors: platform, management etc... While this list has always been a great place to gather ideas/information, it cannot be your end all way for implementation. Installing an IDS-system ingetrated with a firewall is pure Madness. I'm sure you understand what i mean if you sit down and think a little.
