Possibly and that is certainly a valid question. My experience, for what it is worth, has led me to believe that SYN Defender can certainly assist in partially squelching a SYN flood attack but is not the "end all, be all" and is more trouble than it is worth. Your FW performance takes a serious hit and legitimate traffic is often dropped due to the way SOME vendors inplement their TCP/IP stacks. By all means, if anyone thinks it's a good thing and uses it regularly, without negative impact, please let me know and I would be eager to know more.
